The Jacobite rising of 1719
In 1719, George I faced another Jacobite rising. The Stuarts were encouraged by Spain, which sought to weaken British influence in the Mediterranean. Jacobite troops were sent from Spain, but storms prevented many ships from landing and only a small Spanish force was able to meet with Jacobite troops in Scotland, led by (among others) Lord George Murray and Rob Roy.
