The progress of the Prince’s tour was eagerly documented by several newspapers and illustrations such as these were popular in the press. Here, the artist George Leighton shows the Prince looking at one of Bedford’s glass negatives. His camera can be clearly seen, as well as part of the portable darkroom tent that would have been carried everywhere to allow Bedford to prepare and develop his negatives.
