The ruler of Egypt, Muhammad Sa’id Pasha, provided the Prince of Wales with three vessels on which to travel along the Nile. A barge, seen here, was reserved for the Prince and his Equerry, Major Christopher Teesdale. It was towed by a steamer housing the rest of the royal party. This was followed by another steamer transporting the servants. Acquired by the Prince of Wales, 1862
