This more detailed view of the main gateway into the Temple of Horus was one of several views Bedford made at Edfu. The Prince of Wales noted Bedford's enthusiasm, as well as his own, in his journal, 'it is considered the finest [temple] in Egypt, & I admired it excessively, & we went all over it. Mr. Bedford, (the photographer who accompanied us fr. England) took some very successful views'. Acquired by the Prince of Wales, 1862
