This fourteenth-century tower was originally built as an observation deck. A fire in 1831 damaged the tower, and scaffolding can be seen in the photograph. Later the two small storeys at the top of the tower were replaced by a conical roof which remains in place today. The standing stones in the foreground and on the left mark the graves in an Islamic cemetery. Acquired by the Prince of Wales, 1862
