Attributed to Vaillant, Wallerant
The head of a girl 1600-55
-
A drawing of the head of a girl, profile right, looking down; indistinctly inscribed at lower right. The small folio formed part of an album that contained seven folios of copies after compositions by Parmigianino; this however appears to be an original design, and Popham suggested it to be of the period of Rubens, and perhaps by Wallerant Vaillant, who inscribed his name and the date 1655 on another of the folios in the album.
Provenance
From a small album (RCIN 933318; qv. for more provenance details) in the possession of Wallerant Vaillant,1655; probably acquired by Charles II.
