The Virgin and Child c.1524-7
-
A drawing of the Virgin, seated, bending with her face close to that of the Christ Child who lies in her lap, looking up at her. Not connected with any other known composition. Probably of Parmigianino's Roman period.
Provenance
From a small album of 30 drawings by Parmigianino, listed in 1727 at Kensington Palace; the album probably from the collection of Thomas Howard, 14th Earl of Arundel, and probably acquired by Charles II.
