After Parmigianino (Parma 1503-Casalmaggiore 1540)
Saint James the Less (?) 1525 - 1600
-
A drawing of a bearded man standing in profile right, his ragged clothes gathered around him. Presumably a copy after a lost drawing by Parmigianino, also recorded in an anonymous etching inscribed 'FP' (Bartsch XVI, p. 22, no. 10) and an etching by Andrea Schiavone (Bartsch XVI, p. 55, no. 33); Popham (in P&W) suggested the present drawing might in fact be by Schiavone.
Provenance
Presumably in the Royal Collection by 1800, but not identifiable in George III’s Inventory A.
