Attributed to Cherubino Alberti (1553-1615)
Studies of three seated nudes c.1550-1615
-
Three pen sketches of seated nude figures seen foreshortened from below. Inscribed in pen and ink on a different sheet of paper ‘908i’.
Although Popham noted a close connection to the drawings by Cherubino Alberti in the Sala Clementina in the Vatican (P&W no. 1157), this drawing has been traditionally catalogued as by an anonymous artist. A comparison with a drawing sold at Christie’s (4 July 1995, lot 109) confirmed the attribution to Alberti.
