A standing man c.1550-1600
-
A drawing of a nude man with a cloak, standing and turning to the right.
Inscribed in a hand of the eighteenth century, ‘Danillo da Volterra’. P. Pouncey (recorded in P&W) proposed instead an attribution to Giuseppe Cesari, Cavaliere d’Arpino. Dr. Herwarth Röttgen (recorded in Blunt (Misc)) suggested the draftsman may be near the Sienese artist Marco Pino, a follower of Daniele who between 1548 and 1553 worked with him on the decoration of the Orsini Chapel in Trinità dei Monti.Provenance
