A study of a standing male nude turned to the left and viewed from behind. His left arm is raised, and a swathe of drapery billows at his chest.

Probably Carlo Maratta, and thus purchased by Pope Clement XI, 1703; by whom bequeathed to his nephew Alessandro Albani, 1721; from whom purchased by George III, 1762; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810
