Sir Joseph Noel Paton was a Scottish artist who was commissioned by Queen Victoria to paint a picture of the her, Princess Alice, Prince Arthur, Prince Leopold and Princess Beatrice. The queen first sat to Paton on 12 Novemeber 1863 in her room at Windsor Castle, where the artist was staying while he worked on the commission.Provenance
