A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape. The River Dee is shown in the lower foreground, with a path shown on its banks to the right. Trees are shown behind and Highland hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: VR del Oct: 10/50. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 10 October 1856, the Queen visited the River Dee to sketch with her eldest daughter Victoria, Princess Royal.
