A watercolour showing Stirling Castle. The castle is shown on top of a steep hill against a setting sky. Inscribed below pasted down sheet: Stirling Castle - from a sketch from the railroad. Oct: 12 - 1852. On 12 October 1852, Queen Victoria left Balmoral with her family and took the train to Holyrood House, passing Strathern, Perth and Stirling before arriving at Edinburgh.
