On 18 September 1852, the Queen went out drawing with her eldest child, Victoria, Princess Royal. Queen Victoria records the trip in her journal entry of that day, describing how she: "went out sketching with Vicky, 1rst, near the Dee, & then on the top of Craig Gowan, the fine view of Loch Nagar".
