A pen and ink drawing with touches of bodycolour showing a view of Elizabeth Castle, Jersey. The sea is shown in the foreground, with the castle shown on the island behind. Further buildings are shown along the coast. Inscribed below: Elizabeth Castle Albert del - Aug: 1846. On 2 September 1846, Queen Victoria sailed from Osborne House to Jersey with her husband, Prince Albert and some of their children. The Royal family anchored off the island until 5 September 1846 when they sailed on to Cornwall. In her journal entry of 4 September 2846, Queen Victoria describes how "Albert made a charming sketch of Elizabeth Castle".
