A watercolour showing a view of the Scilly Isles. The sea is shown in the lower foreground, with the islands shown across the page behind. A small town is shown on an island in the centre. Inscribed below mounted sheet: The Scilly Islands - VR del on board the Victoria & Albert Aug: 13 - 1847. Queen Victoria visited Scotland with her family during August and September 1847, touring the Western Isles and then staying at Ardverikie Shooting-Lodge. The Queen left Osborne House with Prince Albert and their two eldest children on 11 August 1847 and sailed up the West coast of England and around Wales to Scotland, passing the Scilly Isles on 13 August 1847, before arriving at Ardverikie on 21 August 1847.
