A watercolour showing a view of the clock tower at Hatfield House. The tower is shown in the centre, with the clock face facing left. A weathervane is shown at the top of the tower. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Clock Tower. Hatfield House. VR del Oct: 23. 1846. Queen Victoria visited the Dowager Queen Adelaide at Cassiobury Park from 19 to 22 October 1846 with her husband Prince Albert. From there the royal couple travelled to nearby Hatfield House where they stayed until 24 October 1846. In her journal entry of 23 October 1846, Queen Victoria describes how she "drew the Clock Tower, which is very fine" while her husband was out shooting.
