In the upper view, Fowey Castle is shown on the headland to the left, with the sea shown below to the right. Further coastline can be seen in the background, dotted with small buildings. In the lower view, the castle is shown on headland to the right. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Fowey. VR del. Sept: 7 - 1846 begun on board the V. & A. On 2 September 1846, Queen Victoria sailed from Osborne House to Jersey with her husband, Prince Albert and some of their children. The Royal family anchored off the island until the evening of 4 September 1846 when they sailed on to Cornwall, anchoring at Falmouth Harbour before spending the next few days sailing along the Cornish coast.
