Queen Victoria stayed at the Maison Mottet, part of the Hotel de l'Europe in Aix-les-Bains from the 1 to 22 April 1885. In her journal entry of 2 April 1885, Queen Victoria describes how "The view from my window of the splendid mountains towards the Alps, themselves tipped with snow, with the bright sunshine, is quite beautiful, & I tried to sketch it". -
