A watercolour showing a view of Loch Muick from the Allt-na-giubhsaich Shiel. The loch is shown in the centre, with its banks shown below. A small ridge is shown sloping down from the right. Hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: F[ro]m Allt na guithasach [sic] Oct: 23. 1879. Queen Victoria stayed at the Glas-allt-Shiel on the banks of Loch Muick from 20 to 24 October 1879. On 23 October 1879, the Queen visited the nearby Allt-na-giubhsaich Shiel with her daughter Princess Beatrice. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how Princess Beatrice "went for a walk, whilst I remained in the house, sketching at the window".
