A watercolour showing a view of Lochnagar. The snow-capped mountain is shown across the page, with a valley below. Inscribed lower left: Loch Nagar [sic] Inscribed lower right: f[ro]m the Bush June 8. 1873. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 8 June 1873 the Queen drove around the Balmoral Estate with her daughter Princess Beatrice. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how they "stopped to make a sketch of Loch Nagar, which is still more covered with snow, than I have ever known it at this time of year".
