A watercolour showing a view of Loch Muick from the Glas-allt-Shiel. A row of fir trees are shown in the foreground, with the loch shown behind. Snow-covered hills are shown on the banks of the loch. Inscribed lower left: From my window at the Glassalt Shiel Nov: 8. 1878. Queen Victoria stayed at the Glas-allt-Shiel on the banks of Loch Muick from 5 to 9 November 1878. In her journal entry of 8 November 1878, the Queen describes how she "Sketched from my windows looking down the Loch. It was lovely, the effect of the snow, & brilliant pink sky".
