Queen Victoria stayed at the Glas-Allt-Shiel from 14 to 18 October 1878 with her daughter Princess Beatrice. In her journal entry of 17 October 1878, the Queen describes how she "Sketched a view looking up towards the Dhu Loch, while Beatrice walked up the whole way to the Loch & back".
