A watercolour showing a view of Loch Maree and Ben Slioch. The loch is shown to the lower left, with its banks shown in the foreground to the right. Ben Slioch is shown in the background to the right, with hills shown to the left. Inscribed lower left: Sept: 17. 1877 Loch Maree Ben Slioch. Queen Victoria stayed at the Loch Maree Hotel from 12 to 18 September 1877. On 17 September 1877, the Queen visited nearby Slatterdale. In her journal entry of that day, Quene Victoria describes how at Slatterdale she found "a most splendid view of the Loch, & Ben Slioch".
