A watercolour showing a view of Loch Maree from the dining room of the Loch Maree Hotel. Trees are shown in the foreground, with a gap in the centre revealing the loch behind. Hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: Loch Maree f[ro]m the Dining room - Sept: 17. 1877. Queen Victoria stayed at the Loch Maree Hotel from 12 to 18 September 1877. In her journal entry of 17 September 1877, the Queen describes how she "Sketched again when I came in [from a walk], the lovely views from the windows in the dining room".
