The Queen visited Aberarder with her daughter Princess Beatrice on 29 May 1873. In her journal entry of 3 June 1873 Queen Victroia describes how, while out driving with Princess Beatrice, they "stopped at Aberarder to finish a sketch, I had begun the other day".
