A watercolour showing a view of Glen Aberarder. A house is shown in the glen to the right, at the foot of a hill. Further hills are shown behind to the left and in the background. Inscribed lower left: Glen of Aberarder began May 29. June 3. 1873. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. The Queen visited Aberarder with her daughter Princess Beatrice on 29 May 1873. In her journal entry of 3 June 1873 Queen Victroia describes how, while out driving with Princess Beatrice, they "stopped at Aberarder to finish a sketch, I had begun the other day".
