A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape from the house of Dr. Profeit. Houses are shown in the lower foreground, surrounded by tress. Hills are shown in the background. Inscribed below mounted sheet: View f[ro]m Dr. Profeit's house began Oct 24 - finished Nov: 1 - 1876. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. In her journal entry of 1 November 1876, the Queen describes how she went in a carriage "up to Dr Profeit's house to finish a sketch I had begun there".
