A watercolour showing a view of Loch Tummel. The loch is shown to the right, surrounded by steep slopes. Highland hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: Loch Tummel from the Queen's view Oct: 3 - 1866- Queen Victoria stayed at Dunkeld from 1 to 6 October 1866 as a guest of the Duchess of Atholl. On 3 October 1866, the Queen drove around the surrounding area with her daughter Princess Louise and the Duchess of Atholl. Queen Victoria records the visit in her journal entry of that day, describing how they "Drove along through birch woods, high above Loch Tummel, which is only a mile long. At the end of it, on a high point, called after me “ the Queen's View, ” we got out & took tea".
