A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape from the Lion's Face. A forest is shown in the foreground, with the roof-tops of a small village poking through the trees to the left. Hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower right: from the Lion's Face 1871. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots, often sketching what she saw. Queen Victoria visited the Lion's Face on four separate occasions in 1871.
