A watercolour on a folded sheet showing a view of Loch Lormond. The loch is shown in the lower foreground, with hills rising up from the banks. A hill is shown either side, sloping down to the centre. Inscribed lower left: Loch Lormond Sept: 4. 1869. Looking North. On outside of folded sheet: a loose pencil sketch of a mountain peak. Queen Victoria stayed at Invertrossachs from 1 to 10 September 1869. On 4 September 1869 the royal party visited nearby Loch Lormond. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how "Louise & I sketched, as best we could, but it is very difficult with the steamer always moving".
