Queen Victoria stayed at Invertrossachs from 1 to 10 September 1869. On 4 September 1869 the royal party visited nearby Loch Lormond. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how "Louise & I sketched, as best we could, but it is very difficult with the steamer always moving".
