A watercolour showing a view of the Arrochar Alps from Loch Lormond. Mountain peaks are shown across the page. Inscribed lower left: The Alps of Arrochar f[ro]m Loch Lormond Sept: 4. 1869. Queen Victoria stayed at Invertrossachs from 1 to 10 September 1869. On 4 September 1869 the royal party visited nearby Loch Lormond. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how they saw "the beautiful Alps of Arrochar... Louise & I sketched, as best we could, but it is very difficult with the steamer always moving".
