A watercolour showing a view of Loch Ard. Part of the loch is shown in the lower foreground, with the rest shown behind where the end of the loch curves. A mountain peak is shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: Loch Ard Sept: 2. 1869. Queen Victoria stayed at Invertrossachs from 1 to 10 September 1869. On 2 September 1869 the royal party made an expedition to local beauty spots. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes Loch Ard as "fine long Loch with trees of all kind, bracken & heather, right down to the water's edge".
