A watercolour showing a view of Glen Callater. The glen is shown in the foreground, dotted with trees. Hills are shown behind and mountains are shown in the background. Inscribed below on separately mounted sheet: Glen Callater looking back on [?Callater] June 1 - 1869. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 1 June 1869 the Queen visited Glen Callater with her daughter Princess Beatrice and the Duchess of Atholl. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how, while in the glen, she "sketched the splendid view which I admire so much".
