A watercolour showing a view of Loch Muick from the Glas-allt-Shiel. The loch is shown in the foreground, with a hill shown rising up from the bank to the left. Further hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower right: Oct: 15. 186[8] Queen Victoria stayed at the Glas-allt-Shiel from 14 to 16 October 1868. In her journal entry of 15 October 1868, the Queen describes how she "Sketched the view from the Dining room, the lights being really beautiful & the lake a deep blue flecked with foam".
