A watercolour showing a view of Mount Titlis from Engelberg, Switzerland. A row of fir trees are shown in the foreground, at the foot of the mountain. The mountain is shown capped with snow. Inscribed below: The Titlis - Inscribed lower right: Engelberg Sept: 2. 1868 - Queen Victoria stayed at Pension Wallis, Lucerne from 7 August to 9 September 1868. The Queen wanted to see the Alps, which her beloved Prince Albert had visited before their marriage, and her doctors had also advised the Queen that the fresh air would be good for her health. On 29 August 1868 Queen Victoria and her party made an expedition to Engelberg.
