A watercolour showing a view of a landscape near Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight. Trees are shown on a lawn in the foreground, with a further row of trees behind. A building is shown to the right and hills are shown behind. Inscribed lower left: Carisbrooke May. 1868. Queen Victoria visited Carisbrooke on 2 May 1868 with her son Prince Leopold. In her journal entry of that day the Queen describes how "The Country was looking so lovely in its exquisite spring freshness".
