On 21 October 1867 the Queen visited Glen Derry with her daughters Princess Helena and Princess Louise and son-in-law Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how they "took our luncheon on a high bank, from which we had a lovely view of all the high mountains".
