A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape. A heather-covered hill is shown in the foreground, sloping down from the left. A boulder is shown in the centre and further hills are shown behind. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Study from the Crofts' Shiel Freithluith June 8 - 1865. While staying in Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 8 June 1865 the Queen went riding on the Balmoral Estate with her daughter Princess Helena.
