A watercolour showing a view of Glen Quoich. A forest is shown in the foreground, with Highland hills shown behind. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Glen Quoich Sept: 25. 1865. While staying in Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 25 September 1865 the Queen visited Glen Quoich with her daughters Princess Alice and Princess Louise and her Daughter-in-Law Princess Alexandra of Wales. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how they "rode up the beautiful Glen, only going a short way before we took our luncheon, after which we sat sketching for some time".
