A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape looking towards Glen Tilt. A hill is shown in the foreground, sloping from from the left, with further hills shown in the background. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Looking towards Glen Tilt Sept: 28 - 1865. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots, often sketching what she saw. On 27 September 1865 the Queen rode to a shooting lodge belonging to the Duke of Atholl. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how "The view of Glen Tilt with [Beinn A' Ghlo] rising above all was splendid. Sketched a little, & then went on our way".
