A watercolour showing a view from Schloss Callenberg. Inscribed lower left: [in German Schrift] Oct: von Kallenberg. Inscribed below pasted down sheet: From the Kallenberg. Oct: 1862. Queen Victoria travelled to Brussels on 1 September 1862, to arrange the betrothal of her eldest son, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, to Princess Alexandra of Denmark. On the 4 September the Queen travelled to Reinhardsbrunn, where she stayed until 3 October 1862, before moving on to stay at the palace at Coburg until 17 Ocober 1862. Queen Victoria made many visits to local beauty spots during her stay in Germany.
