A watercolour showing a Highland landscape near Allt-na-Giubhsaich, Balmoral. Inscribed lower left and below pasted down sheet: Sept: 30. 1864 - While staying at Balmoral, Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 30 September 1864, the Queen rode from the Allt-na-Giubhsaich Shiel to the Glas-allt Shiel with her daughter, Princess Helena. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how they "Remained sketching [at Allt-na-Giubhsaich] for some time, then rode down to the top of the Falls of the Glassalt".
