A watercolour showing a Highland landscape on the Balmoral Estate. Mountains are shown in the background with trees shown in the parkland below. Inscribed lower left: Sept: 9. 1864. Inscribed below pasted down sheet: Balmoral - Sept: 9. 1864. While staying at Balmoral, Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. The Queen describes painting after taking a walk with her fourth daughter, Princess Louise, in her journal entry of 9 September 1864.
