A watercolour showing a view of Glen Quoich. Snowy mountains are shown in the background with trees shown below. Inscribed below pasted down sheet: Glen Quoich, Oct:21. 1864. While staying at Balmoral, Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 21 October 1864, the Queen drove with her third daughter, Princess Helena, to Glen Quoich. Queen Victoria describes the day as "A most splendid, still, frosty day, & the sky so blue, the hills covered with snow" in her journal entry of 21 October, recording how they were unable to ride up the Glen due to the snow and cold weather.
