A watercolour showing a view of the Veste Coburg from Callenberg Castle. The fortress is shown high on a hill. Inscribed below pasted down sheet: The Festung of Coburg from the Callenberg - Oct: 1862. Queen Victoria travelled to Brussels on 1 September 1862, to arrange the betrothal of her eldest son, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, to Princess Alexandra of Denmark. On the 4 September the Queen travelled to Reinhardsbrunn, where she stayed until 3 October 1862 in the house of her brother-in-law, Ernest II, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, before moving on to stay at the palace at Coburg until 17 October 1862.
