Inscribed below pasted down sheet: from the Ruidh Ban Righ - Gelen Gelder looking down towards Balmoral - June 5. 1867. While staying at Balmoral, Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 5 June 1867, the Queen rode to Glen Gelder with her youngest daughter, Princess Beatrice. Queen Victoria records the ride in her journal entry of that day, describing how they stopped at the Ruidh na Bhan Righ (Gelder) Shiel for tea and "then sketched" before heading back to Balmoral.
