On 18 October 1864, the Queen went to the Allt-na-giubhsaich Shiel with her son Prince Leopold. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how they then drove "to near the boat house, at the commencement of Loch Muick. Here we got out & lunched & I sat sketching".
