On 25 September 1865 the Queen rode up Creag Bhalg with her daughter Princess Alice and daughter-in-law Princess Alexandra of Denmark. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how at the top of Creag Bhalg they "stopped again to sketch. The views were too splendid & the colouring so beautiful".
