A watercolour showing a view from the Luib Bridge. A valley is shown in the foreground, with a partial view of a building to the left, possibly Corgarff Castle. Hills are shown in the background against a setting sky. Inscribed lower left: From the Bridge of Luib Don Side Sept: 23 - 1865. Inscribed below mounted sheet: From the Bridge of Luibh [sic] Don Side Sept: 26 - 1865. This sketchbook has been mounted and rebound. It is likely that Queen Victoria made a mistake with the date when writing the new inscriptions on the folios. Queen Victoria rode to the Luib Bridge on 23 September 1865 with her daughters Princess Alice and Princess Helena. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how on arriving at the bridge they "Took [their] tea there & sketched".
